Are you ready for October? How did it even get to this time of year?

If you are like me you’ll be wondering where on earth this year has gone.

Now don’t get me wrong I have loved this year and all the things that I have achieved but feel like I still haven’t done as much as I set out to do.

What does October mean to you?

October means the clocks change at the end of the month in the UK. I am not a fan of the clock change. It means that, as a horse owner, I have to be super organised to get all the outside jobs ie feeding, water etc done before the light fades.

Thankfully I have a fantastic daughter who helps with all of this and I don’t know where I would be without her.

This month is also the birthday month of said daughter. Again I have no idea how she is going to be 15! Really. Surely she is still 5.

With autumn being in full swing it’s also a time to look forward. One of the occasions that we have here in Somerset is the carnival. My daughter is in a carnival club and at the moment they are performing on stage every night at the carnival concerts.

In November they take to the road on the carts. The famous Bridgwater carnival is the first one.

If you have never been to a carnival here is a clip.

As well as Carnival in November we also have Bonfire night.

This used to be a low key affair but nowadays there seems to be a never ending display of fireworks going off.

As much as many people love watching them, me included, it is a time when I worry about the animals. After all they have no idea what is going on. One of my dogs is terrified and for that reason we have to use a calmer to help him through.

My horses don’t really seem to worry about them but I know of lots that don’t like them.

The cats seem indifferent, probably mine are too lazy to react.

If your animals don’t like them then I highly recommend getting a calmer for them.

As I have mentioned in previous posts I use Viovet a lot of the time as they have super speedy delivery and are so helpful. At the moment they have a discount on all calmers so if you think that your pet might benefit now is a great time to act.
